Peter has a small but cute part
in this silly movie
Salvage is the all-American story.  A salvage man and former jet pilot (Andy Griffith) dreams of going to the moon to salvage the equipment left behind.  So of course he gathers a motley crew of experts and builds a space ship in the middle of his remote salvage yard, using a revolutionary fuel and flight pattern.
Harry first recruits Skip Carmichael, a used car salesman and former NASA "rebel" who wrote a book on "the translinear vector principle."  Harry and Skip recruit Melanie (Mel) Slozar a special effects craftswoman who has invented an revolutionary rocket fuel on the side.
Peter makes his appearance when Harry and Skip  wait for Mel on the set of a Combat style TV series.  He's Biff, an obnoxious, egotistical, can't get over himself actor.  When he talks to Mel about the upcoming scene, he's touchy, feely and flirtatious despite her clear lack of interest.
Biff brags about doing his own stunts.  Mel is unimpressed.  When she tells him after his dive in the foxhole he'll be sent four feet in the air, he insists that she add enough powder to send him up eight feet.  His fans expect spectacular stunts.
Of course, Biff can't actually handle the increased powder charge so Mel is fired in time to help build the salvage moon rocket.  [It seems to us that a special effects person who prepares a stunt she knows is dangerous without consulting with anyone but a demanding actor should be fired.]
Biff a little worse for wear
Despite a few setbacks like no guidance system (they patch into the computer system of a Santa Barbara aerospace company) fuel that's volatile at any temperature, no airspace clearance and an intrusive FBI agent, the merry band of garage mechanics are successful and the bickering couple find love.
The mandatory early bickering
Mel and Skip on the way to the moon
NiteOwl Review:  Peter's part was cute but too brief for anyone but a real collector to purchase for his part alone.  [Our Lawman friend Anne Raymont bought her copy from BOB AND TIM'S and sent it to us to use here.  As she noted, Peter could have played the bickering pilot lead role in his sleep and the movie would have been better for it.]
