In December of 1995, Vanity Fair produced a special issue containing a 42-page portfolio "The All-Star, All-Time TV Hall of Fame." It featured contemporary photo spreads with stars from TV genres from Westerns to SitComs to Detectives to Animated Features to Prime Time Soaps to News Anchors. Most of the photographs, like the one we reverently borrow here, are by the renowned Annie Leibovitz. James Garner's Maverick is not in the spread but he has his own two-page photo in the collection. There are contributions by other photographers such as David LaChapelle who contributed a contemporary photo of the three stars of the 1968-73 series Mod Squad and Richard Corman who added a contemporary photo of the two stars of the 1960-64 series Route 66. It also includes the sexiest picture of Jay Leno we've ever seen - photographed by Leibovitz standing by a classic motorcycle clad in leather. The cover features cast members of two contemporary series, ER and Friends. Two of us recently bought copies of this issue on ebay. We weren't able to find out if Vanity Fair sells back issues but if anyone buys one through that route please let us know.
