100 Word Drabble

 

 

Standing by the rail, Scott knew that were underestimating him.  Patiently he waited for the horse to be broke. Now was the time for him to shine.

 

As soon as Johnny dismounted, Scott mounted the weary animal and put it through its paces; once around the corral and over the fence.  Making the hands dodge out of the way had its desired effect.  From the corner of his eye he saw Murdoch stand and take notice.

 

As quickly as he started, it was over.  Dismounting, he proudly revealed which branch of the Army he had attached to. To his pleasure, Johnny acknowledged Scott’s horsemanship.  But in the next breath, Scott was once again put in his place.  “That don’t make you ready for Day Pardee…”
