A Christmas Promise and Prayer
by  Southernfrau

The light of Christmas morning glowed in Murdoch's eyes,

In the warm bed, by his side, a tired young mother gently sighs.

His heart is beyond full, the swaddled bundle feels so light,

On his chest sleeps his newborn son, it was love at first sight.

A small dark haired blue eyed angel, born just two days past,

Has firmly planted himself in his papa's heart, deeply and fast.

Johnny Lancer, his second son, his brand new baby boy,

Soon he would bring his son Scott home, to a house full of joy.

The stirring of his son brings a bright smile of love to his heart,

He loves his first born also, but too many miles keep them apart.

Rubbing the tiny little back of his sleeping child, he whispers to say,

"I promise my son, your brother Scott will be here with you one day."

Across a great new country, in a cold snowy city all to far away,

Sits a blonde little boy, surrounded by toys, too sad to even play.

He doesn't understand why he could never know his mother,

His Christmas prayer was unanswered, he didn't get a brother.

His young heart breaks as he longs for the father he has never met,

Sorrow trickles from his slate blue eyes, leaving his pale cheeks wet.

One yearning heart is filled with the hope of a promise he will try to keep,

One lonely heart is beating heavy with grief, causing a little child to weep.

Many years would swiftly flow by, like sand through the hour glass,

Then the Christmas promise and prayer would be answered at last.

The light of Christmas morning glowed in the three Lancer's eyes,

On their very first Christmas together, no longer separated by lies.
