A doctor who treats a bullet wound in a gang leader escapes when they decide to dispose of him.  In fear for his life, he shaves off his beard and gets a job in the Birdcage as a swamper.  His dilemma is presented when with the gang in town on the verge of recognizing him and a man needs his medical skills.
