Wolfer Pike Reese claims to have captured the wolf that's been ravaging livestock in the area but he wants $10,000 or he'll release him.  After Carl Haydn shoots the wolf in the cage, he turns up dead.  Dan has to go after Reese and barely escapes with his life.
