Zachariah Herod's son was murdered and the only witness is his blind second son Cole.  Cole will recognize the killers voice so Zachariah travels from town to town making people speak a few words at gunpoint.  In the Birdcate Saloon something different happens.  Unbeknownst to his father, this time Cole recognizes the voice of one of the men as the murderer.  When his father goes to put up the horses, Cole asks Lily to get the Marshal.  Dan has just left town so Johnny comes instead.  After Cole sizes Johnny up and finds him worthy, he tells him about the murder of his brother.  He doesn't want his father to become a killer.  He wants Johnny to apprehend the killer before his father does.
